The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) is the current name of the elite League of Nigeria’s Football Federation. Nigerian Football League Champions from season 1971-72 to season 2019 are listed by year in first table, by number of championships in second table ending in last year League  Tables.

*The Nigerian League was suspended after 24 rounds in 2018 due to administrative issues. Lobi Stars, as leaders at the time of the suspension, were nominated as the Nigerian representatives in the 2018–19 CAF Champions League. 2019-20 was cancelled after 25 rounds due to Covid-19 pandemic.  Plateau United and Rivers United will represent the Nigeria at the 2020–21 CAF Champions League.
