Although Arsenal hasn’t had successful seasons in recent years, they still have the name mentioned in the transfer market. Some talented players from the Gunners such as Robin van Persie and Alexis Sanchez have stayed with the club for a long time. But the star we want to mention in this article is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Three years ago, Liverpool had to pay £35m to get him from Arsenal. And this made the club’s record sale at the time.

After spending six years at the Emirates, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain decided to depart and looked for a new challenge with the Reds. So far, he has enjoyed his journey with Liverpool and together with the club, he won the Champions League and Premier League in the past two seasons.

#2: Manchester City-Leroy Sane

Fee: £55 million

Manchester City has gained success in the past nine seasons with 4 league titles. Contributing to that success, there are a few leading stars as well as coaching staff. Some of them have decided to leave the club in recent years. And the recent record sale of Manchester City belongs to Leroy Sane when they transferred him to Bayern Munich recently.

The Germany player chose to move back to the Bundesliga instead of signing a new contract with the club. Perhaps he was looking for a German champion in his career. Bayern agreed to pay an initial fee of £40.9m. If he has a good performance and contributes to the club’s titles, the fee could be around £55m which is likely to happen as Leroy Sane is a young talented player with a promising career.

#3: Manchester United-Cristiano Ronaldo

Fee: £80 million

There is no doubt to say that Manchester United dominated the Premier League for a long period. That’s why the club not only has some of the best players in the world, but it also has excellent finances and reputation. However, that doesn’t mean that the players don’t want to leave the club. Although the Premier League is a top football league in the world, top players like Cristiano Ronaldo would want more challenge from the other leagues like the La Liga.

He was probably excited with an offer to move to Real Madrid. In fact, the deal was £80m to get him sign a contract to leave Manchester United. In 2009, it was one of the most expensive transfers in the Premier League. Although this could be a loss to the Premier League’s top club, United had signed some other talents such as Antonio Valencia, and Gabriel Obertan. On the other side, Ronaldo proved his talent by contributing to Real Madrid’s Champions League title. He also personally held the club’s all-time record goalscorer since he played for the Spanish capital.

#4: Tottenham-Gareth Bale

Fee: £85 million

If you think Ronaldo holds the highest transferring fee because of his talent and reputation, you are wrong. It is undeniable about how good he is, but Real Madrid is also known for being a wealthy club and they don’t mind spending a huge amount of money to get the players they want. The club broke their own record with Ronaldo when they signed a contract with Gareth Bale. The fee they had to pay Tottenham was £85m.

Real Madrid witnessed the talent of Bale while he was playing at the Premier League. His scintillating performances had made him one of the most exciting attackers. In fact, he was named as the PFA Player of the Year twice in three seasons with the Spurs.

In his first season at the Bernabeu, he won the first Champions League title with Real Madrid. Since then, he has contributed to the club’s winning against Liverpool in 2018 and other two La Liga titles. Gareth Bale must be happy with this transfer as he is one of British football’s most successful exports. In fact, we all remember Bale as a Real Madrid player and his career seems to be attached with the club.

#5: Chelsea-Eden Hazard

Fee: £88 million

Chelsea-Eden Hazard

It seems like the La Liga has an interest in hunting talented players from the Premier League. Eden Hazard is the third player on this list to leave the English domestic league and join the Bernabeu. This transfer is also remarkable for Real Madrid as the club has to pay £88m for Eden Hazard to leave Chelsea after having seven successful seasons at Stamford Bridge.

It is easy to explain why the Spanish capital was willing to pay that much. During his career with Chelsea, Hazard won the Premier League twice. In addition, he contributed to the club’s two Europa League trophies and two domestic cups. He was also named as the PFA Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year during his time in the Premier League. But he still decided to leave after a while.

In his first season with Real Madrid, Hazard struggled a little bit. Also, he had to suffer a fractured ankle for several months. At the end of the season, he made 16 appearances and one goal. Although it was not a good start, surely he will show his talent more in the next seasons.

#6: Liverpool-Philippe Coutinho

Fee: £142 million

Manchester United dominated the Premier League in the past decades, and now comes the time for Liverpool. The club has gained a lot of success in recent seasons and hasn’t shown a sign of slowing down. Not only in the league, but also in the transfer market, the Merseyside club have been recognized for notable fees for outgoing players.

In 2018, Philippe Coutinho was sold to Barcelona for a record fee of £142m. This deal is one of the most expensive transfers in the Premier League that saw a huge profit for the Reds as they got Coutinho with just £8.5m from Inter Milan. In fact, Liverpool has been known for wise investments to the talents. After selling Coutinho to the Camp Nou, the Reds signed Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to join the team.
