Real Madrid star striker Karim Benzema cements his position among legendary LaLiga strikers

Benzema continues to push his way to the top of footballs most notable achievements, and now rubs shoulders with some of the greatest strikers to ever play in the Spanish league. 

The French Real Madrid forward has been on an impressive goal scoring run with dazzling performances for the past few seasons in Madrid, and it doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon.

In Real Madrid’s 4-0 win against Elche, Benzema scored two goals which pushed him into LaLiga’s top five all-time goal scorers list.

His first goal in the game took him past one of Real Madrid’s great strikers, Raul Gonzalez, and put his total number of goals in LaLiga at 229. Last month, his goals took him past another great, the Legendary Madrid striker, Alfredo di Stefano.

Benzema’s road to legendary Madrid status

Karim Benzema’s latest achievements have been praised by his Real Madrid coach, the Italian football icon, Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti had this to say about Benzema: “Karim is a player who isn’t just a forward, he’s a complete player, he combines well with his teammates, players like Rodrygo tonight, he’s always ready in the penalty area and he helps us a lot in possession.

“Karim is having a fantastic career, let’s hope he can carry on, every Madrid fan wants him to be at this level.”

Benzema’s journey to the top in Madrid began in 2009 with a transfer from Lyon. He has now spent fourteen seasons in the Spanish capital and is worshipped by the Santiago Bernabeu fanbase.

His achievements with the club since joining in 2009 include: five UEFA champions league titles, four UEFA super cups as well as four club world cups, four LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey’s, and four Spanish Supercopas.

After the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in 2018, Benzema stepped up to the challenge of becoming one of the main sources of goals for the club.

Benzema had an unforgettable season for Real Madrid in the 2021-22 season. He scored a career-high 27 goals in a single LaLiga season to win the league for Madrid.

His exploits in the Champions League that season were even more impressive. Benzema scored 15 goals, and led Madrid to unbelievable comeback wins against European heavyweights like Chelsea, PSG, and Manchester City.

Karim Benzema was rewarded for his individual brilliance and his team accomplishments with one of football’s most coveted awards. He won his first Ballon d’Or in 2022 to secure his name among some of football’s greatest names.
