Although there are almost 70+ points yet to achieve, many believe the Blues have lost their title-winning intensity. They have had their worst start to a Premier League season under Pep Guardiola , with three defeats in their opening 13 games, to leave them in third place, floundering nine points behind leaders Liverpool. Unfortunately, for Guardiola’s side, it seems they haven’t remained consistent with the standards they set for themselves last season.

Nonetheless fans and players alike are very pleased with Pep’s reign so far at the club and Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is hopeful that manager Pep Guardiola will remain at the club for many years to come.

Guardiola is in his fourth season at City and is contracted for one more. There has been speculation he could cut his time short at the end of the current campaign but the Spaniard insisted last week that he intends to stay.

Guardiola last week shot down rumours that he could leave City at the end of the season by insisting he would see out his contract with the Premier League champions, which runs until June 2021, provided the club want him to do so.

“Pep has been an incredible asset to this organisation,” the City chairman said. “We can speak about his managerial accomplishments for hours. But I think as a person, as an individual, as a friend, he’s been a core part of what we’ve accomplished here over the last three years.

Although the team trails nine points behind Liverpool, Chairman Al-Mubarak claims no one at the club believes the fight for the title is over. Another valuable asset to the team and chairman is Raheem Sterling. Al-Mubarak is deeply impressed by the player and claims he is “very proud of what Raheem has done over the last couple of years”. Talks of a new contract are already being discussed, nly 12 months after the England forward put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

“Listen, there’s one thing I’m sure of: Raheem is only going to improve and only going to grow as both a player and a leader so the future is incredibly bright for Raheem and it’s a pleasure to have him as a part of our team.”

Another fan of Sterling is ex-England star, Joleon Lescott who claimed: “The pace and technical abilities that Sterling possesses is something that more people should recognise. Sterling just goes about his business and lets the football do the talking and that speaks volumes when he has the ability he does.”

With such a positive and optimistic attitude towards the Premier League season, it seems very likely that the Blues might just sky rocket to the top. After all, Liverpool forfeited many points to the Blues last season as well, and who knows? History might repeat itself.
